Triple Graduation 2017

This year three students graduated from university. Congratulations to Aweke, Genet and Semachew, three of the original students of the New Day Children’s Centre, joining the Centre in 2006 when it first opened. We all wish them every success in the future.  

The London Marathon 2017

On April 23rd 2017 Will Luker will be running the London Marathon in support of the New Day Children’s Centre and the DEC. This will be the second time that Will has completed the 26 mile course in aid of the NDCC and we would like to thank Will for all he has done to help the project. Tom Hagyard visits the Centre April to August 2017

Law graduate and TEFL teacher Tom Hagyard is currently spending time at the Centre before starting his lawyer training contract in September. As well as teaching English, helping around the Centre and enjoying spending time with the students.    

Visit Ethiopia January 2018

Are you interested in a trip to Ethiopia and visit the NDCC? On this 2 week trip you will celebrate Ethiopian Christmas in Lalibela (Jan 7th), visit the Danakil Depression visit Gondar and Bahir Dar where you will have the opportunity to help out at the New Day Children’s Centre. Update November 2016

Mulamabet has successfully graduated from her computer diploma course and now has a job working as an admin assistant. Masterwall, here with Mulamabet, enters her final year of midwifery training. Both students have been able to continue their studies thanks to the kind support of the Soroptimists in Derby. Alleyn’s School in Dulwich Support NDCC

The students of Cribb’s House at Alleyn’s School in Dulwich have kindly chosen the New Day Children’s Centre as the charity they will support during 2016-17. On October 11th they held a Charity Gala. Students had prepared a night of entertainment, a raffle and an excellent buffet. The talent on show was outstanding – musicians, dancing and singing. The night raised over £2000. Students Success 2016

This year two students have graduated from university – Yeshambel studied Computing at Bahir Dar Univerity and Kefale Business Management at Arba Minch. Yeshambel would like to find work in Bahir Dar and Kefale already has a job working for Dashen Bank in Addis Ababa. As we say goodbye to these students we wish them well for the future. 10 Years ago today

10 years ago today the New Day Centre opened its doors to 13 students. Since then the Centre has grown and we now have three university graduates, many in employment and lots still studying. Happy Birthday to you all.

Change of Staff at the NDCC

Askal, who joined the Centre in 2007 and who has been the manager of the Centre since 2013, has recently left to join her husband in Addis Ababa. Following the birth of her second child in Novemeber, Askal resigned her post and will soon be making the move to Ethiopia’s capital.
